Kris Knox
Kris found yoga 14 years ago when she moved to Waxhaw. After her first class she was hooked and never looked back. After steady practice for 3 years, Kris took her 200 hr certification in 2010 through Charlotte Yoga under the teachings of Rolf Gates. Kris continues to train under her mentor Rolf and many other teachers so she can share new information with her students. After teaching in and around Waxhaw for 10 years Kris saw the need for a designated yoga space in town and when the opportunity arose, Waxhaw Yoga was born. Kris can not wait to bring the first neighborhood studio to town and share this life changing practice with the community.

It all began with a college extracurricular weight training class. Yes, the kind you take because you just need to fill credit requirements. Twenty-four years later, fitness remains a love and a life-long commitment for me.
Years after a B.S. in Biology and a ten year career with the American Cancer Society, the dream of Temple Fitness, LLC became a reality in Waxhaw, NC. Now, I get to live out my passion everyday as an American Council on Exercise (ACE) Certified Personal Trainer. I am also certified in functional fitness and CPR. As owner of Temple Fitness, I have the privilege of offering personal training, group resistance training, Pilates and senior fitness to clients of all ages and fitness levels.
When I am not in a gym, you will find me homeschooling Riley (13) and Dylan (9) or enjoying my other favorite things- hiking, cooking or gardening. I have been married to my best friend and biggest support, Kurt, for 15 years. We attend and serve at Five Stones Church in Waxhaw.
It is never too late and you will never regret the time you commit to your own fitness routine. After all, your body is a temple. Let me help you to view and treat yours as one.

Cara McCarthy
Cara McCarthy, RYT-200, MA, began her yoga practice over a decade ago while studying ballet and modern dance at The Ohio State University. She found yoga as a vehicle to use intentional breath and movement to experience her body in a new way. She continued a regular practice on her mat, helping her stay grounded as she completed her Masters degree in Counseling at Wake Forest University. Her yoga journey led her to complete her 200-hour yoga teacher training to share her love of yoga with others.
In 2018, Cara left her life in the United States to travel and teach around the world in Australia and Southeast Asia. She is currently in her 500-hour teacher training, and is eager to share her passion for intentional, alignment-based movement that brings mental, physical, emotional, and energetic benefits to every body. Cara’s personal practice has carried her through the enormous ups and downs of life, so she appreciates the healing benefits of yoga as much as the physical, and believes coming onto the mat can help us quiet our thoughts enough to hear the intentions of our hearts. When she is not teaching, Cara works as a health and lifestyle coach with Noom, and also loves spending time with her new baby daughter!
Join her for classes that will challenge, inspire, and uplift you physically and mentally!

Becky Somsak
My love of fitness started in high school, but really translated into a career when my youngest son was a baby, 12 years ago in Orange County, CA. I became a group fitness instructor for Fit4Mom, which led to personal training and other studio group fitness.
After moving to Waxhaw in 2015, I fell back in love with the practice of yoga, while also becoming a trainer with Burn Boot Camp. With the intensity of that style of training, I realized even more how crucial yoga was for the Body, Mind, and Spirit and that more people needed to be introduced to it. I took the 200 hour YTT in 2019 and have never been more excited about sharing my love of fitness, health, body positivity, and yoga!

Sherri Norford
Sherri initially came to yoga believing it was just another form of exercise. It didn’t take long for her to realize that, although her body definitely benefitted from the practice, the emotional and spiritual benefits far outweighed the physical. Her desire to deepen her practice and share her love of yoga with others led her to receive her RYT-200 in 2014 and her RYT-500 in 2018.
Sherri’s initial training was influenced by the Universal style of yoga but she has also had the privilege of studying multiple other styles, including Restorative, Yin, Ashtanga, Gentle, Yoga for Athletes and Yoga
for Beginners.
Sherri lives with her husband, three children and two dogs. When she is not on her mat, Sherri enjoys cooking, reading and time at the lake with her family.
